Bulky waste (collection/drop-off) and recycling centres
Bulky waste is waste that does not fit into the neighbourhood containers but can be collected separately for recycling or disposal. You can take it yourself to one of the recycling centres. It is also possible to have it collected by the municipality for a fee after making an appointment.
As a resident of Ouder-Amstel, you can bring bulky household waste (including household appliances and furniture), bulky garden waste (excluding soil and sand), stones, chemical waste, construction and demolition waste, and clothing to the recycling centres. Business waste is not accepted.

You can drop off bulky household and garden waste free of charge at one of the recycling depots in Duivendrecht and Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. The waste must be presented separated.
Duivendrecht
Address: Meidoornstraat 28. Opening hours:
- Monday: 9 a.m. to noon.
- Wednesday: 14 to 18 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 13 to 16 p.m.
Ouderkerk aan de Amstel
Address: Ambachtenstraat 84. Opening hours:
- Monday: 13 to 16 p.m.
- Wednesday: 14 to 18 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 13 to 16 p.m.
Residents who do not have transport to take bulky waste to the recycling centre in Duivendrecht can borrow a cargo bike free of charge. Residents may take up to 1 cubic metre of waste to the recycling centre once every two weeks at no cost.
If the cargo bike is available, it can be used for up to three hours. You must bring a valid form of identification.
The municipality collects bulky waste and garden waste from homes every Wednesday. Requests for collection must be submitted no later than 12.00 noon on Tuesday.
Register bulky waste for collection (in Dutch)
Place the bulky waste outside at a location along the public road on Tuesday evening after 7.30 p.m. or on Wednesday morning before 7.00 a.m. Make sure it is positioned so that the collection vehicle can easily access it.
A fee is charged for this service. The rate for 2026 is €41.11 per cubic metre, or part thereof. This fee is determined annually.
Please note the following conditions:
- Waste must be separated by type.
- Waste must be sorted by material type.
- Smaller items of bulky household or garden waste should be compressed and tied together in one or more bundles where possible.
- A bundle may be no longer than 1.5 metres, no wider than 0.5 metres, and no heavier than 25 kilograms.
- Chemical waste, soil, rubble, and sand will not be collected.
- You are responsible for ensuring that only your own waste is placed at the collection point.
